Mad World - 2004-02-29 - 4:26 p.m.

I don't update a lot. I'm looking into buying a computer, so I'll probably update more often later on. Not that it matters.

I'm in Quebec right now. Friday night Aaron and I had a 64-a-thon all night long. I took some ephedrine and didn't sleep all night. It felt like I had been conscious for three days straight. People were coming and leaving our house, all of them on some type of drug. (hey, talk in lebanese!(I smoke a huge doob)) Took the train at Union at 7:45 am yesterday and tried to get some sleep. Some asshole french kids kept screaming and crying for the 5 hour ride, so I didn't get much.

Got to my house in the afternoon. Very stylish hat, my neighbour told me. I don't wear it for style, I told him. My brother knew about the penis tattoo. Turns out some bitch told him last summer or something. He really doesn't care, just merely shrugs and says, "It's not my body." I'm glad he thinks of it that way. Wouldn't want a mod getting in the way of brotherhood.

I bought booze, legally, for the first time yesterday. Got drunk.

This place smells like home. Sorel smells like dirty water. Yet it smells like home. Montreal screams nostalgia. What a comfortable setting. I ride the metro not caring what my destination is. Just to hear that familiar horn before it sets off to the next station, just to smell that weird metro smell.

Shock value. I order everything in french. I talk in french. I speak english to my brother and to a few people here. But primarily, everything is french. The dominant provincial language. Fleur de lys, not lys flower.

At my work, my boss's wife (who is also a "boss") told everyone that Quebecers are too proud of their patriotism, too proud of their culture and province, even more so then Americans. First off, I don't think that's true, since she's basing her opinion on one person. Second, who the fuck cares? Why shouldn't Quebecers be proud? This place rules. Ontario rules too. So why should I pick one over the other?

I'll never understand why there are two sides. Why people unnecessarily hate each other, for reasons unknown.

But I'm still having a good time. And getting drunk again tonight.
